Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric Juicer Review
Jack Lalanne, the legendary fitness icon famously known for his long running fitness show “The Jack LaLanne Show”, knew only too well the health benefits of juicing. After partnering with Tristar, his first centrifugal juicer came onto the market in 2001 and quickly became a consumer hit after a series of enticing infomercials. Since then, his line of juicers has been extended to five models ranging from the Classic to the high-end Elite model.
Juicer Reviews looks at the Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric Juicer, which is a redesigned version of the original Jack Lalanne Power Juicer. Find out if it lives up to the hype of the infomercials.
- Stainless-steel housing
- Large 3″ circular feed chute
- Quiet 3,600 RPM motor
- Large pulp collector
- Non-drip spout
- Dishwasher safe parts
- Lifetime limited warranty on motor
Stainless Steel Construction
The Power Juicer Pro is housed in stainless steel which makes the machine easy on the eye, durable and also easy to clean. This also means the machine is stain-resistant so the body won’t get stained over time by produce like sometimes occurs with juicer machines which have a plastic housing.
Quiet 3,600 RPM motor
Powering the Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro is a 250-watt motor which spins the machines mesh filter at 3,600 RPM (revolutions per minute). This motor is considerably slower than most other similarly priced centrifugal juicers. One advantage this slower motor brings however besides its quietness is that it results in lower levels of oxidation than higher speed motors produce so your juice retains more of its healthy nutrients.
The non-drip spout is a nice design element which allows you to stop the flow of juice with just a quick flip of the spout. This prevents those pesky drips of juice getting onto your countertop when it comes to moving your glass away when it’s full.
Pros and Cons
Stainless steel construction.
Low speed motor results in quiet operation and less oxidation.
Large sized feed chute.
Despite the infomercials touting that Jack Lalane’s Juicers make up to 30% more juice than other juicers, this doesn’t prove to be true in comparative tests made against various juicers in the same price range.
It features only 1 speed setting. This means the Power Juicer Pro lacks the flexibility of juicer machines which have dual or multiple speeds.
The spout is located low down on the machine; therefore a tall glass can’t fit under the spout so you need to use a short glass.
The 60 day warranty is too short. The lifetime warranty only applies to the motor.
The Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric Juicer has its plus points and has had its fair share of satisfied customers, but there are too many negatives for us to give it our recommendation.
If you’re specifically looking for a centrifugal juicer, we would advise you to spend a bit more to get one with a more powerful motor and a longer warranty. Two good alternative machines to consider are the Breville BJE510XL Ikon or the Lequip Big Mouth 215XL.
