Design
The futuristic design is one of the highlights of the Philips Norelco 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2d Electric Shaver. The front of the shaver is an attractive metallic blue color, the body is curved outwards significantly towards the top and the head is nicely perched at an angle. It has been designed to be comfortable to hold by featuring rubberized ridges on either side, which is especially handy when you’re wet shaving in the shower.
There are three status indicator lights on the front of the shaver body. Towards the middle, a control lock indicator is situated which allows the power button to be disabled to prevent the shaver been turned on accidentally. The two lights situated lower down are for low battery status and battery charging status.
GyroFlex two-dimensional Technology
The Philips Norelco 1150x/40 features GyroFlex two-dimensional technology which is designed to follow the unique contours of the users face. The shaving heads tilt inwards and can pivot in multiple directions, 360 degrees. This technology allows the shaver heads to adjust to each curve of your face to provide a very close shave with minimum skin irritation or required pressure.
DualPrecision Shaving Head
The DualPrecision shaving head utilizes one shaving track that has slots which effectively cuts both regular hair and very short stubble.
Super Lift and Cut system
The Super Lift and Cut system feature dual blades to comfortably cut hair below your skin level for the closest possible shave.
Trimmer
The precision trimmer works very well and is effective at neatly tidying up sideburns or a moustache. The one drawback of the trimmer though is that to use it, you need to remove the shaver head and insert the attachment for the trimmer, which is a bit inconvenient in comparison to having a built-in trimmer.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
The Philips Norelco 1150x/40 has a sleek, futuristic design with a body which is easy to hold whilst shaving.
You have the choice of either a wet or dry shave depending on your personal preference. Wet shaving with shaving foam or gel tends to give the most comfortable shave.
It’s backed by a 45 day money back guarantee and a 2 year warranty, for extra peace of mind.
Excellent user-manual provides lots of information on maintenance, general usage and replacement parts.
Cons:
The shaver can’t be used directly from mains power, so if you need a quick shave you need to use the quick-charge feature which takes 5 minutes and provides you 3 minutes of shaver usage.
It tends to leave long hairs behind, so you need to shave on a daily basis to avoid needing many passes whilst shaving.
The trimmer is not integrated, therefore to use the trimmer; you have to manually change the shaver head to attach an attachment. The plus side is that the trimmer is a good one.
Final Thoughts
For its price, the Philips Norelco 1150x/40 SensoTouch 2d Electric Shaver is an incredible rotary shaver which is elegantly designed and provides a good, close shave either wet or dry. It’s advisable that you wash your face before using it for the best results.
One drawback is that you need to take several passes over the same area of your face to achieve a close shave, so if you don’t mind this and are willing to shave at your leisure, then this is a shaver which is certainly worth investing in.
